Cary, NC – Grayson Randall of Cary recently received a Citation of Honor Award from IEEE-USA at their Annual Meeting Awards Banquet on September 2, 2007 in Scottsdale, AZ.  The Citation of Honor is given to honor individuals who have made exemplary contributions toward achieving the aims of professional activities in the United States.

 

Mr. Randall’s award is “for leadership that inspired pre-college students and college engineering students in the area of robotics.”   For several years, Mr. Randall spent much of his free time mentoring high school and college students in robotics.   He has also excited students with his guest lectures at colleges and universities around the country.

 

Mr. Randall was raised in Orland, Maine.  He graduated from Parks College of St. Louis University with a BS in Aerospace Engineering.  He is a Senior Engineer at IBM.  He is the leader of Insight Racing, a team started to compete in the DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) Grand Challenge series of driverless, robotic vehicle races.  His team has been selected to compete in the Urban Challenge National Qualification Event in October, 2007.
